1. Yoga or exercise – One should perform some physical activity that will support your gut health. For example- Yoga has certain asanas that are very beneficial to keep your digestive track healthy and strong like Sarvangasana (Shoulder stand), Naukasana (Boat Pose), Pavanamuktasana (Wind relieving posture) etc. Also, there are some breathing yoga known as pranayams that can be advantageous for better digestion.
2. Fruit Diet – Fruit diet is basically a kind of fruit fasting in which you intake fruits only for the whole day plus water. This will promote your digestive health as fasting will give a break to your gut. Moreover, the intake of fruits that are rich in water content will help in cleansing and detoxification by purifying your digestive system. To fulfil your energy requirement, fructose will be useful. One can practice fruit fasting at least once a month.
3. Probiotic food Probiotic foods are live bacteria that are beneficial to improve digestion. Probiotics are present in kimchi, yoghurt, lassi and other fermented foods.
4. Try to eat before Sunset – Our digestion cycle should be synced to the position of the Sun. When the sun rises, our gut bacteria also awakes which aids digestion. So, we should eat according to the sun as the power of our digestive enzymes are directly proportional to the position of the sun. For example – lunch should be a heavy meal of the day because at that time the sun is at its peak so are our enzymes which can work effectively to absorb the food. Eventually leading to a better digestion health. However, if you eat after sunset then it may not be digested and will only add up your calories.
5. Avoid processed or junk food – These foods like maggie, pizza, burger, etc are difficult to digest as they are made up of unhealthy fats, and artificial additives and lack dietary fibre.
6. Sleep on time – The sleeping cycle is also very essential. Nowadays, most of the people stay up the whole night while scrolling on social media or doing unnecessary stuff. This is not good at all because sleep is helpful in detoxification and repairs your body. As you will disturb the sleeping system means you are also disrupting your digestive system. Also, if you will sleep late at night then you might feel hungry again causing unnecessary munching of snacks which will eventually cause digestive issues in the long run as the sun has already set off but you aren’t.
7. Avoid Stress– Stress is also a root cause of indigestion. When our brain is stressed, then it will slow down the process of digestion causing our food to remain in the stomach for a long time.
8. Increase Chewing Time – In this modern hasty world, where everyone is out of time, the first thing we want to compromise is our food. That’s why, we eat food at a very fast pace so that, you will not be late for meetings, school or college. But that should not happen. As we choose to eat faster, we chew it just for a few seconds and the larger food molecules enter into the digestive system which is difficult to break or digest. You are supposed to chew at least 32 times.
